Implementation Research

We rigorously apply qualitative and quantitative mixed methods research to answer complex health questions that require real-life contextual understandings, multi-level and inter-disciplinary perspectives, and an appreciation of different cultural, social, and political contexts.

Evidence Synthesis

Our teams are experts in meta-analysis, systematic reviews, overviews / umbrella reviews, rapid reviews, best evidence reviews, narrative reviews, and qualitative reviews. The risk of bias, quality, and certainty of evidence are appraised using validated tools endorsed by Cochrane, GRADE and JBI.

Clinical Trial Design

Be it a feasibility or pilot study, or a larger phase 3 study, the Health Research Group can support and lead all aspects of a clinical trial, from the protocol development and statistical analysis plan, to project management, analysis, and the clinical study report.

Patient & Consumer Engagement

We listen to the voices of patients and consumers to understand their lived experiences, values, and preferences, through the use of surveys, interviews, and focus groups, and by including patient advocates in the research team.

(2022-2026)

Integrative Medicine practice among Australian GPs

In collaboration with The University of Sydney, Faculty of Medicine and Health, this project is examining General Practitioner activity from the perspective of Integrative Medicine.

The project involves developing an operational definition of Integrative Medicine for health services research of general practice in Australia.

The definition will be applied to an analysis of the largest and most valid and reliable dataset of GP activity in Australia: Bettering the Evaluation and Care of Health (BEACH).

World Health Organization (WHO) Online Health Literacy Resource

In collaboration with Cochrane, Health Research Group has been contracted by the WHO to develop an online resource for the public for making informed health choices on traditional, complementary, and integrative medicine (TCIM).

Testing, adaptation and implementation of the resource will be informed by the Informed Health Choices Key Concepts, a scoping review of concepts underlying decision-making choices about TCIM, and a Delphi study involving a broad range of stakeholders from across the globe.

Medicinal cannabis adverse events 

In collaboration with The University of Sydney, Faculty of Medicine and Health, Sydney Pharmacy School, Health Research Group is reviewing the safety of medicinal cannabis.

The program began by reviewing clinically observed cannabis-drug interactions between cannabis-based products and commonly co-prescribed medicines and the safety of medicinal cannabis for people living with cancer.

The next stage involves interviews with patients, healthcare practitioners and industry stakeholders to develop tools to support adverse events reporting.
